The DIY Question
If the door popped off the track but the panel isn't bent and the opener isn't straining against it, you can sometimes walk the rollers back into the track by hand with the door manually disconnected from the opener - but only if nothing is under spring tension when you do it. The honest limit here: if a torsion spring is still loaded or you can't tell whether it is, stop and call someone. We've seen homeowners get a door back on track and then have a spring let go on the next cycle because the real problem - a bent track rail from the original jump - never got fixed. A door that looks fine sitting still can still be dangerous moving. If your garage is original to a 1981-era build and this is the first time it's come off track, that's worth a proper inspection rather than a quick push back into place.
What It Costs
We don't have a Boulder City-specific price list to quote here, and giving you a number without seeing the track and rollers would be a guess dressed up as a quote. What we can tell you is that cost depends on whether it's a roller and bracket adjustment or a bent track section that needs replacing, and whether the hinges on a door this old need to come with it. A door that's only off at one roller is a different job than one where the whole rail has pulled away from the frame. We travel from Henderson to reach Boulder City, about 13 miles out, and that's factored into any quote we give rather than hidden as a surprise.
Stocked Parts
For doors from this era we carry standard steel track sections, hinge-mounted rollers, and the brackets that mount track to the frame, since those are the parts that wear out on 1981-vintage garages across this area. What we don't always have on the truck is an exact match for a less common panel style - some original doors used proprietary hinge spacing that newer universal hinges don't quite fit, and in that case we may need to order a part rather than finish same-visit. We'll tell you straight if that's the case rather than forcing a part that's close enough but not right.
